We are thrilled to announce that Real Taps for Real Heroes has officially become a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit!
This means we can now accept tax-deductible donations for the first time — a huge step forward in our mission to ensure every veteran receives a live performance of “Taps” at their funeral rather than a recording.
For over 25 years, I’ve had the honor of playing “Taps” for our nation’s heroes. What started as one request at a veteran’s funeral turned into a lifelong calling. Those 24 notes carry more weight and emotion than any recording ever could.
“Twenty-five years ago, I was asked to play ‘Taps’ when no one else was available. That moment changed me. I realized the profound silence and meaning in those notes — how they speak for a grateful nation when words cannot.”
Today, far too many families are still left with a recording because of the shortage of buglers. That’s why we exist.
With this new 501(c)(3) status, your support can now go even further — helping us recruit and train more volunteer buglers (especially young musicians), expand our reach, and ensure no veteran is ever forgotten.

We’ve already played “Taps” at the Alabama National Cemetery, traveled to Normandy and Brittany to honor our fallen on sacred ground, launched a college scholarship for student buglers, and run recruitment campaigns like 30 Days of Real Taps.
